Kanalen hade sin storhetstid  under andra halvan av 1800-talet d\u00e5 trafiken var lika intensiv som p\u00e5 G\u00f6ta Kanal. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Str\u00f6msholms kanal\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vonklopp.se\/images\/20111\/semla-2.jpg\" title=\"Str\u00f6msholms kanal\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>De m\u00e5nga bruken l\u00e4ngs Kolb\u00e4cks\u00e5n utnyttjade transportleden flitigt. Under n\u00e5gra decennier fraktades n\u00e4stan 10% av det svenska bergsbrukets produktion p\u00e5 kanalen.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Str\u00f6msholms kanal\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vonklopp.se\/images\/20111\/semla-3.jpg\" title=\"Str\u00f6msholms kanal\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>T\u00e5g och senare v\u00e4gtransporter konkurrerade sedan ut kanalen. Nyttotrafiken upph\u00f6rde 1945. Idag best\u00e5r trafiken av fritidsb\u00e5tar och slussarna anv\u00e4nds enbart sommartid. <\/p>\n<p>Slussarna p\u00e5 bilderna \u00e4r de \u00f6versta i kanalen. De ligger vid Semla d\u00e4r det funnits hytta sedan slutet av 1500-talet. 1861 \u00f6vertogs Semla bruk av Fagersta bruk. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Semla II\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vonklopp.se\/images\/20111\/semla-4.jpg\" title=\"Semla II\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>1897 byggdes det f\u00f6rsta kraftverket i Semlaforsen. Det var i drift fram till 1909. P\u00e5 andra sidan forsen byggdes Semla II som stod klart 1902.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Semla II\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vonklopp.se\/images\/20111\/semla-5.jpg\" title=\"Semla II\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I Semla II anv\u00e4ndes vertikalaxlade turbiner liknande de i <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vonklopp.se\/wordpress\/?p=2091\">N\u00e4s<\/a>. Effekten var 600 kW.  Byggnaden st\u00e5r kvar, men kraftverket \u00e4r nedlagt och all utrustning demonterad. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Semla II\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vonklopp.se\/images\/20111\/semla-6.jpg\" title=\"Semla II\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>P\u00e5 platsen f\u00f6r den f\u00f6rsta kraftstationen  byggdes den station som \u00e4r i drift idag. Den heter &#8211; ni gissade det s\u00e4kert  &#8211; Semla III.  Vid \u00f6ppnandet 1910 hade den tv\u00e5 horisontella Francisaggregat. Ett tredje aggregat installerades 1988. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Semla II\" src=\"http:\/\/www.vonklopp.se\/images\/20111\/semla-7.jpg\" title=\"Semla III\" class=\"alignnone\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sj\u00e4lva kraftstationen ligger ca 180 meter nedstr\u00f6ms dammen och f\u00e5r sitt vatten via tre tr\u00e4tuber.
