Erikson byggde i mitten av 1800-talet upp bomullsindustrin l\u00e4ngs Viskan och \u00e4gde fabriker i Viskafors, Rydboholm och <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vonklopp.se\/wordpress\/?p=6048\">Rydal<\/a>. Efter hans d\u00f6d 1866 fortsatte industrins tillv\u00e4xt och teknikutveckling. Kraftverket i St\u00e4mmemad byggdes 1896-1898 f\u00f6r att generera kraft till elektrifieringen av bomullsspinneriet i Rydal. I den vita tillbyggnaden st\u00e5r ett kaplanaggregat med maximal effekt p\u00e5 1 MW.
