Fr\u00e4mst var det arbetarnas boende som kritiserades. Tj\u00e4nstem\u00e4nnen bodde i enkelrum men i arbetarbarackerna bodde man i sm\u00e5 dubbelrum med enklast m\u00f6jliga inredning. Tidningen Metallarbetaren rapporterade att \u201dDen som trivdes i logementet n\u00e4r han gjorde lumpen kan m\u00f6jligen tycka om milj\u00f6n. Fartyget som var byggt 1914 hade haft en brokig karri\u00e4r p\u00e5 \u00d6stersj\u00f6n och Kattegatt.
